Surface Model Week 1 Process :)

 Surface Model

Going from paper model to Surface Model

Here is my paper model and sketches I've done.

I decided to revise my original plan once I looked at my other classmates work. I realized that I was way over my head especially since I've never used a water jet cutter before. I figure my original design would exceed the time given to cut out our objects.

The revised version is more simple and suits the project demands more efficiently. Easier to sand, cut and more room to play with things than my original idea. The octagon at the bottom provides stability so I can fold the object in on it's self. Hoping the laser cut goes well.

Original Model

Just from these screenshots of the original it's very complicated. Perhaps if I was more experienced in using the water jet cutter I could use this. Maybe this is better as a 3d print or resin print.

Revised Model

Very simple and more at my skill level especially because I haven't used the water jet cutter before along with a shorter cut time so I don't have to rush my appointment or have to take up more time than I'm allotted.
