 Did the Chicken or the Egg come first?


My clock project made an unexpected turn from my original idea. My original idea was inspired by my
 fat chicken plushy named Chicken Little. I was determined to make it work, and I did. However upon further research I realized that someone had already made a 3d printable clock very similar to my design. Of course the models were different sizes and shapes but I was a bit upset that someone had the same idea. So I went back to the drawing board.  

I was edited my chicken and deleted the body and I saw the new vision. How could something look 
so stupid yet so amazing at the same time!! This was my chance to make a new clock that was beautiful and unique to my knowledge and bring back something from my elementary school days.

He's pretty cool and really round. However with my time limit I didn't feel like he was a good option.
He was really big and when I made him small he was too annoying to work around. In order to put a
clock part it would be quiet weird cause of the stomach being so round. It would cause a lot of excess filament to be used when I really didn't need all that waste. As a started model he served his purpose
and I love him. 

Something that really forced me to create a new module was when I searched up 3d printed chicken clock. I found a module that looked exactly the same as mine. Same idea, different eyes but that was enough for me to be like nope new idea. 

Which brings me to how I came across my idea for (who I affectionately call) Chicken 1:

So how did Chicken 1 become a model? Well it all happened when I was reworking my original
module and I deleted the body by accident. Immediately I knew he was perfect!!!!


Leading me to a rabbit hole of an army of chickens in my Rhino file. As shown below:




That's a lot of chicken modules. You can see how he starts to develop and how I started to stick
 to a pretty specific design. Big head and big eyes and generally bigger body.

 Surface Model Day 2 Process This week we were tasked to unfold and get our models ready for the laser cutter. As seen in my last weeks model it's pretty straight forward to unfold. I was able to unfold and prepare for the laser cutter in a short amount of time.  Here are the steps I took to unfold and prepare: It was pretty easy to unfold and to make 2D. I was struggling at first of how to unfold because I didn't have a base for my model. My friend suggested to add a base to the bottom and have it all connected by that. She's an absolute genius and solved my problem.  I wasn't sure if this is new but when you Make 2D it forms a new layer for the object you used  the command for. Maybe it's a Mac OS thing. I'm just getting use to using my laptop for Rhino and when I try to render my objects it crashes. I'm lucky to have my desktop so I can do all the rendering from there. Thank goodness for one-drive so I can access my files cross-platform quickly and easily...

Final Experimental

 Final Experiment   Our original idea we had was to print on fabric to create designs. We ended up changing our idea, I was in charge of drawing out our character on the CNC machine. A process we are quite familiar with already. I found this time a lot easier and was able to quickly set it up and hit start. Here are the images of what we have done.  Here is the version with working stages of putting together the final piece.  We decided to add more detail by using a 3D pen!!!! Wow it looks so good!!! FISHERS ARE REAL       For my project I decided to make a fish. He’s pretty cool!!! Some flaws I made were because the layers were too close together which is funny because I thought they were too far apart. After all this class is about experimentation. If I was to do this again I would space out the layers and make it bigger. If it was bigger the lines and spaces would show up more. Note for next time separate the layers. From the pictures you can tell how small of a scale the lil fishers are.
