Water Jet Copper Finished

Image
Water Jet Copper Finished I was pleasantly surprised about my cut. I was very worried it would break apart but it looked  very fragile but when I folded it it holds together great. I would say the structure is pretty strong  and it looks super cool.  I'm submitting this project for gallery crawl. I will try to get the other prototypes to hold together.  Maybe tape or hot glue would be the best choice. Super cool project and I wish I could have made  so many more for gallery crawl. First time working with copper or the waterjet cutter. It's not as scary  as I thought it would and I do feel pretty comfortable to use it again for another project. Of course I  think I would need someone to come with me just to make sure I'm doing everything good. Pretty cool project hope people at gallery crawl thinks it's cool too and not lame. Ah man worrying sucks. It would  be so cool to use this and make a bigger version. Maybe it could be the bottom of a t...

Surface Model Week 3 Process

Image
Surface Model Week 3 Process   Here is my model that was laser cut out of: My worry was that the copper wouldn't hold up the original shape cause of how flimsy the art board was.  Here is my waterjet cut rhino file.  Waterjet looked exactly the same as my rhino file. Everything went pretty well setting it up apart from not being able to add tabs which was quickly fixed once I talked to my prof about it and he let me know that it was cause I hadn't closed my lines. After that all good.

Clock Make Idea

Image
Clock Make Idea My clock Idea is to make a fat chicken clock. I think for me I know how I want it to look and I can see the vision it's figuring out what machine would do better for the job. For example I don't know how well 3D printers can print round objects or how I can model them better to be printed better. It'll be trial and error and thinking of how everything will fit. From my sketch it's pretty straight forward and I think 90% of my project can be done by the 3D printer or resin printing. The clock part is well suited for the laser cutter so I can have a circle attached to the inside of the chicken. It's pretty much just a little divot in his front belly.  That sounds so terrible. The numbers are going to be either engraved or cut out of other laser cuttable material and placed in the clock.
